Iran Bolsters Air Defense with Hundreds of Russian and Chinese Shoulder-Fired Missiles

Opposition sources in Iran report that during the recent ceasefire period, Moscow and Beijing have strengthened the Iranian regime's air defense by supplying hundreds of advanced shoulder-fired missiles. According to the American Arabic-language site Al-Hurra, citing Kurdish and Arab opposition sources from Iran's Ahvaz province, Iran received approximately 300 advanced 9K333 Verba missiles from Russia and China in recent weeks. These shipments arrived via the Caspian Sea in five small containers.

Upon arrival, the missiles were distributed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to military bases and sensitive sites across Iran. Deployment locations include Tehran, Kermanshah, Isfahan, areas near the Iraqi Kurdistan border, and along the Strait of Hormuz coast, all considered strategic by the regime. Additionally, alongside the deployment of Russian and Chinese air defense systems near border areas, further shoulder-fired missiles have been transferred in the past two weeks to pro-Iranian militias operating in Iraq.

This buildup aims to enhance Iran's air defense capabilities following recent conflicts, reflecting Moscow and Beijing's support for the Iranian regime's military infrastructure. The transfer of advanced weaponry to both Iranian forces and allied militias in Iraq underscores the regional security dynamics and Tehran's efforts to fortify its strategic positions.
