Haifa District Attorney Agrees to Retire with 1.1 Million Shekel Settlement

A settlement has been reached with Haifa District Attorney Adv. Eila Pails Sharon, who will retire and receive 1.1 million shekels. This agreement follows the conclusion of her eight-year term and a dispute over her continued employment with the Ministry of Justice. Reports indicated that after her term ended, Pails Sharon refused to step down and demanded to keep receiving a monthly salary of approximately 80,000 shekels until offered a suitable alternative position matching her qualifications and status.

Journalist Avishai Greenstein criticized her demands, noting she sought full salary payments without applying for other roles and questioned her self-praise regarding her performance during wartime, highlighting that she was reportedly on private vacation abroad during those periods. In response, Pails Sharon's lawyers argued that the state had failed for years to establish a retirement mechanism for district attorneys insured by a cumulative pension and finishing their terms, unlike arrangements for those with budgetary pensions and other senior civil servants.

They added that the temporary retirement arrangement for the Haifa District Attorney was proposed by the Ministry of Justice, the Civil Service Commission, and the salary supervisor, and was ratified by a judicial decision. This settlement resolves the dispute over her post-term employment and compensation.
