Rabbi Chaim Simcha Yermak, Esteemed Bnei Brak Talmudic Scholar, Passes Away at 64

Rabbi Chaim Simcha HaCohen Yermak, a revered Torah scholar and respected figure in Bnei Brak's Ramat Elchanan neighborhood, passed away suddenly at age 64 after a prolonged illness linked to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was the son of Rabbi Shlomo HaCohen Yermak and son-in-law of Rabbi Alter Yitzchak Drashovitz, founder of the 'Zechor Yitzchak' kollel in Bnei Brak and a close disciple of Rabbi Yaakov Kanievsky and Rabbi Avraham Kottler. Rabbi Yermak was known for his humility, dedication to Torah study, and selfless devotion to others, with his home always open to those in need. He was deeply involved in efforts to save Jewish children and endured severe suffering in recent years with acceptance and love.

His funeral took place on Wednesday, the eve of the 23rd of Menachem Av 5786, attended by family, community members, and admirers. He was buried in the Elad cemetery. Rabbi Yermak leaves behind a blessed generation, including four orphans and a grieving bride yet to be married. His family is sitting shiva at their home on Rabbi Sonnenfeld Street 14 in Ramat Elchanan, Bnei Brak. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
