Ben Gurion Airport Prepares for One of Its Busiest Summer Days with Over 100,000 Passengers

Ben Gurion Airport is expected to experience one of its busiest summer days on Thursday, with over 100,000 passengers passing through the terminals. This surge reflects the peak travel season in August, a month that will see more than 2.6 million travelers, marking a significant recovery in Israel's aviation sector since the pandemic and recent conflicts.

Currently, flight schedules are operating normally without major delays in departures or arrivals, but heavy congestion is already noticeable in passenger processing areas such as check-in, security, and boarding, especially during peak hours. Travelers are advised to check real-time flight information and airport congestion updates through official channels to better plan their arrival times.

Despite the high passenger volume, the airport faces staffing shortages in critical areas like aircraft refueling, where only about 33 refuelers are available. This limitation could occasionally cause delays in aircraft turnaround times, particularly on very busy days. The Israel Airports Authority recommends passengers follow airline guidelines and prepare for longer wait times during this peak travel period to ensure smooth transit through the airport.
