New Marine Rehabilitation Center Offers Holistic Support for Israeli Combat Veterans
The new marine rehabilitation center, "Ma'aganat HaBayit," will open at Ma'aganat Shavit in Kishon to provide therapeutic sailing, support groups, art therapy, and other treatments for Israeli combat veterans and their families. This initiative is part of the holistic rehabilitation model under the "Choosing Life" program, recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. The center aims not only to offer medical treatment but also to create a sense of belonging and growth, emphasizing the rehabilitation of the entire family and community around the veteran.
Shlomi Forman, chairman of the steering committee for Choosing Life, stated that their vision is to be a stable anchor of healing and hope for soldiers wounded in combat, helping them build new, fulfilling lives. He added that Ma'aganat HaBayit is an integral part of the therapeutic journey and that there are plans to expand the program to other cities in Israel with suitable marinas for therapeutic and challenging sailing activities.
The center reflects a comprehensive approach to post-trauma care, addressing not only the physical and psychological wounds of combat stress but also the social and familial dimensions necessary for full recovery. The program's holistic framework is designed to support veterans and their families in rebuilding their lives together.
