Negev Rehabilitation Center Restores Hope for IDF Wounded and Bereaved Families
In the Negev desert, the Einot Bar therapeutic center in the community of Givot Bar offers a vital path to healing for Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and their families affected by the October 7 massacre. Since the attack, thousands of soldiers, reservists, wounded veterans, bereaved families, hostages' families, and evacuees have participated in the center's programs aimed at restoring peace, security, and a sense of home.
Founded 15 years ago by Einat Tzarfati Cohen with a vision to create a space for recovery, resilience, and renewal, Einot Bar has become a beacon of hope amid national trauma. The center is currently managed by Tzviki Barkai, who himself underwent treatment there after experiencing trauma during Operation Cast Lead about a decade ago. Barkai's personal journey has inspired him to guide others through similar healing processes.
The center's approach goes beyond treating post-traumatic stress disorder; it focuses on reconnecting soldiers with their families, helping individuals reconnect with themselves, and bridging the gap between trauma and hope. The Rabinovitch family, who sought treatment at Einot Bar, described the center as a mission that transformed their family wound into a genuine blessing, enabling them to regain their son Joseph through a long process of healing, listening, and faith in new beginnings.
Despite the ongoing challenges, Einot Bar continues to foster daily stories of recovery, emphasizing that even after the most difficult wars, choosing life and hope remains possible.
