Samsung Releases August 2026 Security Update with 38 Fixes for Galaxy Devices

Samsung has announced its August 2026 security update for Galaxy smartphones, including 38 fixes derived from Google's Android security bulletin and 18 additional patches for Samsung-specific vulnerabilities. Among the Google-sourced fixes, eight are classified as critical hardware-level issues and 30 as high severity. These vulnerabilities affect various system components, but Samsung withholds full details until the update is widely deployed to reduce exploitation risks.

In addition to Android fixes, Samsung addressed 18 unique vulnerabilities in its devices, with two rated high severity, 14 medium, and two unspecified. These patches cover system components, permissions, and data handling mechanisms. Samsung also updated several of its apps and services, including My Galaxy, Samsung Health, and Smart Switch, resolving issues that could allow local or remote attackers to access sensitive data due to improper permissions, lack of encryption, or insufficient input validation.

The update is initially targeted at flagship Galaxy models receiving monthly security updates. Other models receive updates quarterly or biannually depending on device age, market, and support policy. Samsung has not yet released a full rollout schedule by model or country. The update will be distributed gradually, with timing varying by region, carrier, and device. Availability does not imply immediate download access on all devices; users should check manually via Settings under Software Update.

Samsung urges users to install the update promptly, especially given the eight critical fixes. Owners of older devices should verify if their model remains supported in Samsung’s official list.
