Central Unit Takes Over Eldar Dayan Disappearance Case After Dimona Ends Search Efforts

Following a special situation assessment led by Central District Commander Amir Cohen, the investigation and search for missing Eldar Dayan have been transferred to the Sharon Central Unit. This decision came after the Dimona police station, responsible for the initial search, reported that all search operations under their jurisdiction had been exhausted. The transfer aims to consolidate investigative efforts under one unit to enhance operational capabilities.

The Sharon Central Unit will now lead both the ongoing search and the investigation, including the violent altercation that preceded Dayan's disappearance. Police continue to employ all available technological and operational resources to make progress in the case.

Authorities are also investigating claims that Dayan contacted his father from a hiding place, as alleged by Dayan's girlfriend on social media. Investigators plan to question the father to verify the communication and extract any information that could aid in locating Dayan.

The police are exploring the possibility that Dayan's disappearance is linked to threats from two friends, Omri Peretz and Maxim Barberman, whose detention was extended for the third time on suspicion of involvement in the violent fight and threats against Dayan. Investigators believe Dayan may be hiding in the Petah Tikva area, with search and investigation efforts continuing in parallel to determine his whereabouts.
