Netanyahu Defends Itamar Ben Gvir's Appointment to Supreme Court Against Removal Claims

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that he fully supports the appointment of Itamar Ben Gvir as National Security Minister and sees no grounds for his removal, either by the Prime Minister's decision or judicial intervention. Netanyahu's position was presented as part of ongoing legal proceedings challenging Ben Gvir's continued tenure. The Prime Minister stated that he carefully considered the incidents cited in the petitions and reviewed documents submitted by the State Attorney's Office. Before finalizing his stance, Netanyahu also received a detailed response from Ben Gvir regarding the events in question. Despite this review, Netanyahu found no reason to alter his previous position.

In his response to the Supreme Court, Netanyahu wrote that after weighing all factors and receiving Ben Gvir's detailed explanations, there is no change in his view that the minister's appointment was lawful and that no administrative or judicial cause exists for his dismissal. This statement rejects claims that the incidents referenced in the legal process justify ending Ben Gvir's service. The court is currently considering both the possibility of administrative removal by the Prime Minister and a judicial order to terminate the minister's tenure. Netanyahu emphasized that, from his perspective, neither option is warranted.
