IDF Prepares to Deploy Polling Stations Inside Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza for Upcoming Elections

Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi recently convened the IDF General Staff leadership to discuss preparations for the upcoming elections. Following the meeting, Kochavi issued a directive outlining several measures to ensure soldiers can vote while maintaining the IDF's political neutrality. A key component of the plan is the unprecedented deployment of polling stations deep within enemy territories, including Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, to enable soldiers serving beyond Israel's borders to exercise their voting rights.

The Chief of Staff also banned external political lectures and visits to politically sensitive sites within the military. He instructed strict monitoring of all military communications, including commanders' speeches and memos, to prevent any inappropriate political statements during the sensitive election period. Additionally, a dedicated team will oversee soldiers' social media activity to address violations and reduce improper conduct.

Kochavi emphasized the prohibition of using the IDF for political propaganda and reinforced the ban on political activities by military personnel. Special attention will be given to reservists serving during the elections to ensure compliance with relevant laws and orders. The IDF will also prepare for sensitive commemorative days occurring during the election period, such as the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks and the anniversary of Yitzhak Rabin's assassination.

In closing, Kochavi stressed adherence to existing protocols to maintain public trust in the IDF and called for clear communication and guidance for commanders. The IDF declined to comment on the report published by Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).
