Alon Moreh Yeshiva Receives Defense Minister’s Award for Supporting Reservists

The Hesder Yeshiva in Alon Moreh was awarded the Defense Minister’s Shield Prize on Tuesday, recognizing institutions that support Israeli reservists. The yeshiva announced it will dedicate the prize to the memory of ten of its students and alumni who fell during the recent war. The award, granted by Defense Minister Israel Katz, honors public and private bodies that view reservists as a national asset and foster supportive work and study environments. Many staff members at the yeshiva serve in the reserves, some accumulating hundreds of days of service alongside their institutional duties. The yeshiva also provides close support to the families of reservist staff.

Minister Katz emphasized the importance of backing reservists not only by the soldiers themselves but also by employers, academic institutions, and local authorities, calling it a national mission to strengthen the reserve system. Rabbi Elyakim Levanon, head of the yeshiva and rabbi of Samaria, highlighted the thousands of reserve days served by the yeshiva’s rabbis and staff, praising the institution’s support. Alisaf Pershan, CEO of Alon Moreh institutions, reiterated the yeshiva’s commitment to its staff’s reserve service and expressed gratitude for the recognition from the Defense Ministry.
