Herzliya Yeshiva Opens Memorial Study Room Honoring Fallen Israeli Soldiers

The Herzliya Yeshiva inaugurated a new memorial and study room named "Be'ez Ruchem" to honor the fallen soldiers from the city who served in Israel's wars. The ceremony took place on Wednesday and included participation from bereaved families, Chief Rabbi Kalman Bar, former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot, and the yeshiva head Rabbi Moshe Levi. Each column in the room is dedicated to a fallen soldier from Herzliya, including notable figures such as Sergeant Major Gal Meir Eizenkot, son of Gadi Eizenkot, and Colonel Yoni Steinberg, commander of the Nahal Brigade who was killed on October 7 and was a student of Rabbi Levi.

The yeshiva itself was established about six weeks before the outbreak of the recent war, and its students and scholars have collectively served thousands of reserve duty days on the front lines. Rabbi Levi shared his personal struggles balancing the yeshiva's establishment and his three sons' injuries in combat. The event began with a memorial prayer led by Gadi Eizenkot, followed by the unveiling and mezuzah affixing at the entrance to the memorial room. Chief Rabbi Bar emphasized the room as a source of inspiration, highlighting the importance of selflessness and kindness as a guiding principle for students.

Rabbi Levi concluded by reflecting on the unity and resilience of the Israeli people during these challenging years, expressing hope that this shared bond will be a lasting lesson for the community. The event underscored the deep connection between the yeshiva, the city of Herzliya, and the sacrifices made by its residents in Israel's defense.
