IDF Orders Demolition of Home of Gunman Who Killed Two Near Givat Gilad Settlement

The Central Command of the Israel Defense Forces has signed a demolition order for the home of Farouk Ramadan, the gunman responsible for a deadly shooting attack near the Givat Gilad settlement in the West Bank. The attack, which occurred about two weeks ago, resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers, Staff Sergeant (res.) Binyahu Malat and Captain Yuval Ezra, both of whom were later declared fallen soldiers. Ramadan was killed by Israeli forces at the scene immediately following the attack.

The demolition order was issued over the weekend for Ramadan's residence in the village of Tal. The family of the attacker submitted an appeal against the decision, but after review by the relevant IDF authorities, the appeal was rejected and the demolition order upheld. The family has been given time to file a petition before the demolition is carried out.

The shooting attack took place near Givat Gilad in the Samaria region. Video footage released from the incident shows a violent confrontation involving a group of Jewish hikers and the attackers, during which the gun of the Givat Gilad security coordinator was seized and used to carry out the shooting. The footage also depicts the efforts of the security coordinator and the platoon commander to protect the civilians and repel the attackers. The attack resulted in the deaths of Malat and Ezra, who were actively involved in defending the group.

The IDF continues to enforce punitive measures against terrorists and their families as part of its counterterrorism efforts in the West Bank.
