Ra'am Senior Official Says Adding Yoav Segalovich Aims to Boost Political Influence, Not Votes

Fadi Agawi, a senior member of the United Arab List (Ra'am), explained that the potential inclusion of former Knesset member Yoav Segalovich is intended to strengthen the party's influence in shaping decisions within the next coalition rather than to increase its electoral votes. Agawi noted that the move is unlikely to attract a significant number of Jewish voters due to the aftermath of the October 7 events and prevailing attitudes toward the Arab community, which also affect pragmatic Arabs seeking political partnership.

He emphasized that the greatest gain would come from within the Arab community itself, particularly among academics, professionals, and social elites who might reconsider their support, viewing the alliance as enhancing Ra'am's practical influence and integration into decision-making circles. Agawi framed the consideration of Segalovich's addition within the political project led by Dr. Mansour Abbas, which aims to expand political possibilities and break taboos in relations between Arab parties and central decision-makers.

According to Agawi, this initiative is primarily an effort to solidify Ra'am's role as an influential partner in government decisions rather than a mere electoral tactic to boost vote counts.
