Dudu Faruk Stars in Lead Role for First Time in Youth Thriller 'Blood in the Water'

Israeli artist Uri Komai, widely known as Dudu Faruk, is set to star in his first leading role in the psychological youth thriller film "Blood in the Water." Filming began last week, with the movie scheduled for release in cinemas this coming winter. The film is directed by Doron Eran and marks his first cinematic collaboration with his daughter Hila Eran, who serves as both producer and actress.

The screenplay, written by Tomer Almagor, is based on true events and explores themes of social exclusion, shaming, and violence among teenagers in the age of social media, where incidents are rapidly documented and shared online. The story focuses on teenagers who have harmed others and are sent to a closed therapeutic facility as part of a rehabilitation process following actions that led to severe psychological damage, hospitalizations, and even deaths.

Throughout the film, the youth participate in a unique therapeutic workshop where they confront feelings of guilt, responsibility, and the possibility of changing their paths. The production has received support from organizations dedicated to education and combating violence, with an estimated budget of around one million dollars. Alongside Komai, the cast includes Na'aya Federman, Niro Levy, Rudy Saada, Hertzel Tubi, Michael Givati, Yael Karpelov, Yonatan Horn, Gefen Rozov, and Harel Bracha.
