Israeli Rapper Uri Komai Stars in Psychological Teen Thriller Film

Uri Komai, known as rapper Dudu Faruk, will make his debut in a leading film role in the psychological thriller "Blood in the Water." The movie marks the first cinematic collaboration between director Doron Eran, known for works like "The Road to Ein Harod," and his daughter Hila Eran, who serves as both producer and actress. The cast also includes Na'aya Federman, Niro Levy, Rudy Saada, Hertzel Tubi, Michael Givati, Yael Karpelov, Yonatan Horn, Gefen Rozov, and Harel Bracha. The screenplay was written by Tomer Almog.

Filming began last week, with the film scheduled for release this winter. Based on true events, the story explores bullying, shaming, and violence among teenagers in a world where every moment is recorded and rapidly shared on social media. The narrative focuses on the perpetrators, teenagers sent to a closed therapeutic facility for rehabilitation after causing severe psychological harm to peers, including hospitalizations and deaths. Within a unique therapeutic workshop, these youths confront the consequences of their actions, feelings of guilt, responsibility, and the possibility of change.

The production is supported by organizations working in education and violence prevention, with a budget of approximately one million dollars. Director Doron Eran told Walla Culture that "Blood in the Water" aims to give voice to a rarely addressed topic in cinema, examining not only how victims are created but also how offenders emerge and whether the cycle of violence can be stopped before it is too late. He emphasized that by 2026, Israel and the world have become challenging and sometimes harsh environments for youth, and the film highlights the complex issues they face today.
