Jerusalem Breslov Hasid Charged with Serious Sexual Offenses Against Minors Including During Uman Trip

A 63-year-old Breslov Hasid from Jerusalem has been indicted for severe sexual offenses against three 12-year-old minors. The indictment, filed on Monday, alleges the suspect exploited his trusted position within the community and committed the crimes inside a Jerusalem synagogue and during a trip to Uman, Ukraine, a pilgrimage site for Breslov followers. The prosecution has requested the court to order his detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings due to the gravity of the charges.

According to the indictment, the suspect systematically concealed his actions from the public and abused multiple settings to commit the offenses over an extended period. The case highlights that some offenses occurred during the annual pilgrimage to Uman, where thousands of Breslov Hasidim gather for Rosh Hashanah prayers at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

This indictment follows recent reports of similar allegations within the ultra-Orthodox community, including a case involving a 40-year-old resident of Bnei Brak accused of serious offenses against two minors. The prosecution emphasized the suspect's dangerousness and the severity of the crimes, leading to a firm request for his continued detention. A court hearing is scheduled in the coming days.
