Sanz Yeshiva Students Begin Elul Study Period Early Amid Renovations in Netanya and Haifa

The Sanz yeshivas in Kiryat Sanz, Netanya, and Haifa have commenced the Elul study period ahead of most other yeshivas, which remain in the 'bein hazmanim' break. Hundreds of students, inspired by the legacy of the yeshiva's founder, Rabbi Shafah Chaim of Sanz, and under the guidance of the current Sanz Rebbe, began their special study schedule with high spiritual energy and a strong sense of mission for the upcoming sacred time.

This year's opening of the study period is marked by renewal and expansion of holiness, coinciding with extensive renovations at the main yeshiva building, "HaMetivta." Due to these works, the students temporarily relocated to the large Rosenberg Hall, where they joyfully gathered. The community eagerly anticipates the reopening of the renovated Metivta building in the coming days.

The Sanz yeshiva halls, long-standing centers of Torah study and effort, were filled with the familiar sounds of learning despite the quiet outside. For the students, the Elul period represents a spiritual ascent and a thirst to return to the study benches and delve deeply into Talmudic discourse. The decision to start the study period early reflects the Sanz ethos of prioritizing Torah study without compromise.

The opening ceremony featured a keynote address by Rabbi Yosef Moshe Dov Halberstam, head of the Sanz yeshivas and chief rabbi of Sanz in the U.S., who combined calls for pure fear of God with demands for greatness in Torah. He blessed the students and emphasized their responsibility as torchbearers of the sacred tradition.

The early start to the Elul study period at Sanz highlights a commitment to spiritual growth and dedication, setting a tone of renewal and anticipation for the upcoming High Holy Days.
