Gur, Sanz, and Belz Yeshivas Begin Elul Study Period Early Amid Renovations

While most yeshivas remain on their summer break known as Bein Hazmanim, the Gur, Sanz, and Belz Hasidic yeshivas have already started or are preparing to begin the Elul study period about a week earlier than other Lithuanian and Hasidic yeshivas. These prominent Hasidic communities are breaking from the usual schedule to open their learning sessions ahead of the rest of the yeshiva world, which is still on hiatus.

In the Sanz yeshivas located in Netanya and Haifa, the study halls have been decorated festively as hundreds of students commenced their learning under the guidance of the Sanz Rebbe. This year’s early opening is also marked by significant logistical adjustments due to intensive renovation work at the main Sanz yeshiva building, "HaMetivta." As a result, students have temporarily relocated to the large Rosenberg hall. The renovations are expected to be completed soon, after which the students will return to their regular study hall.

The Belz yeshivas are also set to begin their study sessions over the coming weekend, joining Gur and Sanz in advancing the start of Elul by a full week compared to other yeshivas. This early start reflects a deliberate choice by these central Hasidic communities to prepare spiritually ahead of the traditional schedule.
