James Harden Arrested in Houston After Gun Found in His Car

NBA star James Harden was arrested in Houston on Saturday morning after police found a gun in his vehicle. The 36-year-old, identified in the article as a Cleveland Cavaliers guard, was taken into custody by Houston police at 3:41 a.m. Court records say he has been charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon.

According to the indictment, Harden had a gun in his car “unlawfully, intentionally and knowingly.” Law enforcement documents said the weapon was visible inside the vehicle and was not in a holster, as required by law. No further details about the circumstances of the arrest had been released.

Harden was later released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment on June 22. He joined Cleveland last year, and the team was eliminated last month in the Eastern Conference finals by the New York Knicks, losing the series 4-0.

Harden has played in the NBA since 2009, when he was selected third overall in the draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
