James Harden arrested in Texas on unlawful weapons charge
Cleveland star James Harden was arrested early Saturday morning in Texas, according to TMZ. Local law enforcement said he was accused of unlawfully carrying a firearm after police found an open gun in his vehicle, not inside a required holster or case as the law allegedly requires.
The charge against Harden is currently classified as a misdemeanor, a lower-level offense. He was released shortly after his arrest after posting bail.
A court hearing has been scheduled for June 22. TMZ reported that Harden’s representatives had not issued an official response as of the report.
Harden, who recently finished the NBA season, was selected third overall in the 2009 draft by Oklahoma City and has played for several teams over his long NBA career, including Houston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and the Clippers, before joining the Cavaliers last season.
