James Harden arrested in Texas on unlawful weapons charge
Cleveland star James Harden was arrested early Saturday morning in Texas and charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to U.S. outlet TMZ and local law enforcement. Police said he was stopped with a gun in his car, and investigators believe the weapon was visible inside the vehicle rather than stored in a proper holster, as required by law.
The charge is currently classified as a misdemeanor, a mid-level offense. Harden was released shortly after his arrest after posting bail, and a formal court hearing was scheduled for June 22.
TMZ said Harden's representatives had not issued an official response at the time of publication. Harden recently finished the NBA season with Cleveland and remains one of the league's most prominent veterans.
He was selected third overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by Oklahoma City and has since played for Houston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and the Clippers before joining the Cavaliers last season.
