Israeli Health Ministry Recalls 'GATRY' Drink Over Illegal Production Concerns

The Israeli Ministry of Health has issued a strong public warning against consuming the beverage marketed as "GATRY," regardless of size or expiration date. This alert follows routine inspections by local authorities in Yokneam Illit, which revealed that the drink, made from a mixture of qat leaves and fruits, is produced without any official permit and in direct violation of food regulations.

The ministry clarified that the origin of the product is unknown and emphasized that Israeli food laws only permit the use of qat leaves in their natural, traditional form, not as processed ingredients in beverages. The product details include the name "GATRY," described as a qat leaf and fruit drink, with no known manufacturer or importer.

The Ministry of Health urges consumers to purchase food and drinks exclusively from licensed and reputable vendors. The Food Service department confirmed that ongoing enforcement and inspection efforts will continue to detect violations, food fraud, and illegal production, with all necessary legal actions to be taken in cooperation with enforcement agencies against offenders.
