Israeli Hostage Rom Braslavski Meets IDF Arabic Spokesman Who Gave Him Hope in Captivity

Rom Braslavski, who spent 738 days in captivity, recently met Abihai Adraee, the IDF Arabic spokesperson whose broadcasts gave him hope during his ordeal. Braslavski revealed that while held captive in Deir al-Balah, he secretly listened to Adraee's statements on Al Jazeera through a curtain, drawing strength from his words. He described Adraee as a familiar and respected figure in Gaza, whose precise and consistent updates on Israeli military actions and the fate of hostages were a source of pride and reassurance.

Braslavski recounted that Adraee's messages, which emphasized that the Israeli Defense Forces would not relent until all hostages were freed, were widely known among Gaza militants. After his release, Braslavski had the opportunity to meet Adraee in person during a gathering in Kfar Maccabiah alongside fellow captive Sasha Troponov. He called the meeting a powerful closure to the darkest chapter of his life, expressing deep admiration and gratitude for Adraee's indirect support throughout his captivity.

The former hostage highlighted the emotional significance of the encounter, noting that sharing a room and a car trunk with Troponov in Rafah for two days made the reunion with the IDF spokesperson even more meaningful.
