Rom Braslavski, an Israeli soldier who survived captivity in Gaza, shared harrowing details about his ordeal and the moment he realized his captors were about to expose his identity. In a post on his Instagram account, Braslavski posted a photo of himself in IDF uniform taken shortly before his abduction and described his struggle to conceal his status as a soldier during the early months of captivity.

After about six months, the situation worsened when his captors brought a laptop to gather information, signaling to Braslavski that his cover was about to be blown. At 5:30 a.m. in the central camps of Deir al-Balah, he overheard his captors discussing him and decided to confess to senior leaders of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad that he was an Israeli soldier. Despite his fear, he did not hesitate to reveal the truth, though he refrained from detailing what happened afterward, calling it "unbearable."
