Former Gaza Hostage Rom Braslavski Expresses Love-Hate for Netanyahu

Rom Braslavski, a former hostage held in Gaza, spoke Thursday evening about the challenges of reintegrating into daily life nearly a year after his release. Speaking at a Selichot prayer event in Tel Aviv's Hostages Square, he discussed his struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and the loneliness he experiences, particularly as Jewish holidays approach. In an interview with Kan Reshet Bet radio, Braslavski described his recovery as an ongoing difficult process, contrasting the widespread public support he has received with moments of isolation when confronting the aftermath of his captivity. He expressed gratitude to Israelis who have supported him throughout his ordeal.

Braslavski also addressed his complex relationship with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, admitting to resentment and stating, "Between Benjamin Netanyahu and me, it's a love-hate relationship." He voiced hope that the prime minister would one day apologize to him. Braslavski linked this sentiment to his captivity experience and his belief that Israeli leadership bears responsibility for the events leading up to the October 7th attack. While acknowledging those who worked for his release, he emphasized that his return to Israel has not ended the personal and psychological consequences of his abduction.
