Iran Mocks Trump After US President Retreats From Threats Amid Middle East Tensions

A cautious calm has returned to the Middle East following heightened alert levels and escalating tensions earlier Sunday, which included multiple travel warnings issued by US embassies in Jerusalem and other regional capitals. These advisories urged American citizens to avoid travel to the area and recommended those already present to consider leaving or prepare to do so.

Earlier on Sunday, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that the United States was prepared to confront Iran with military force on a scale "unseen since World War II." Despite this, US allies in the Middle East reportedly reached a broad agreement framework aimed at ending hostilities with Iran.

Iranian state-affiliated media and officials dismissed Trump's claims, labeling them as false and desperate attempts to pressure Gulf rulers through threats. Iranian military sources emphasized their forces remain on high alert and ready for any scenario. Mohammad Marandi, a former advisor to Iran’s negotiation team with the US, mocked Trump on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Everyone now knows this is fake news, Trump has backed down."

Iranian news agencies linked to the Revolutionary Guards, including IRNA and Fars, ridiculed Trump for his apparent reversal, describing it as "another retreat from his declarations and threats against Iran." The regime’s mouthpiece newspaper Kayhan also joined in, calling Trump’s week of statements "fabricated" and labeling the situation a "replay game." These reactions highlight Tehran’s narrative that Trump’s aggressive rhetoric was insincere and that the US has stepped back from military confrontation.
