Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed on Saturday when an An-32 transport aircraft crashed in Assam, in northeastern India. The pilot was among the dead, while the co-pilot survived and is receiving medical treatment.
The air force said the aircraft was involved in a routine training sortie in the Jorhat area of Assam when the accident occurred. In a post on its X account, the Indian Air Force said that crash-site management and the initial investigation were underway.
Authorities have also set up a formal inquiry committee to examine the circumstances of the crash. No additional details on the cause of the accident were immediately released.
