Quadruple Summit Planned in Cairo to Advance Gaza Disarmament Deal

The Arab newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat revealed that extensive preparations are underway for a four-party meeting scheduled this week in Cairo. The summit will include representatives from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and Turkey, all mediators aiming to push forward a comprehensive agreement regarding Gaza. According to a senior Egyptian source familiar with the talks, U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to arrive in the region soon. Egypt places significant hope on direct involvement and increased pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to advance the agreement.

The Egyptian source emphasized that the Cairo meeting is intended to finalize key steps of the deal. The mediators anticipate that President Trump will exert direct pressure on Netanyahu to ensure the agreement's progress and full implementation. This summit follows the recent unveiling of the full roadmap to implement Trump’s plan for Gaza, which includes transferring authority to a national committee, complete dismantling of terrorist groups, and strict international supervision.

Last weekend, President Trump announced that the peace council had reached a diplomatic agreement guaranteeing the "complete disarmament" of terrorist organizations in Gaza. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump hailed the historic agreement to fully disarm Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. He described the deal as a monumental step toward lasting peace and security, envisioning Gaza governed by a new Palestinian authority cooperating closely with the peace council to assist residents. Concurrently, Israel would gain the security it deserves, with Gaza no longer serving as a base for terrorist attacks.
