Tamir Blatt Poised to Join EuroCup Teams Including Luka Doncic-Backed Roma Clubs

Israeli point guard Tamir Blatt, who recently played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, is set to sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv and will be loaned out for his first season. Among the potential EuroCup destinations for Blatt is Villeurbanne, led by Tony Parker, but other ambitious clubs are also interested in acquiring the Israeli guard. Two notable contenders are Roma SPQR and Massima Roma, both newly established teams in the European basketball scene competing to become the top club in Rome. Both teams will participate in the upcoming EuroCup season and are backed by wealthy owners. Roma SPQR is led by Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic alongside Donnie Nelson, former Dallas Mavericks general manager, who head an investor group that purchased the Cremona license to form the club. Similarly, Massima Roma acquired the Brescia license and is headed by American businessman Paul Matiasik. Blatt, who played three seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv and previously with Hapoel Tel Aviv, averaged 7.1 points and 5.2 assists in 19.5 minutes per game last EuroLeague season. The move highlights growing Israeli talent interest from emerging European basketball projects.
