Tamir Blatt Poised to Join EuroCup Teams Led by Luka Doncic and Ambitious Rome Clubs

Israeli point guard Tamir Blatt, who recently played for Maccabi Tel Aviv, is set to sign with Hapoel Tel Aviv, which plans to loan him out for the upcoming season. One of the main potential destinations is Villeurbanne, the French club associated with Tony Parker, but several EuroCup teams are also interested in acquiring Blatt. Among these are two newly established Roman clubs, Roma SPQR and Massima Roma, both launching ambitious projects to become the leading basketball team in Rome.

Roma SPQR is backed by a group of investors led by Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic and Donnie Nelson, former general manager of the Dallas Mavericks. This group purchased the license of the Italian club Cremona to form the new team. Similarly, Massima Roma acquired the license of Brescia and is headed by American businessman Paul Matiasik. Both teams will compete in the EuroCup this season and are financially well-supported.

Blatt, who spent the last three seasons with Maccabi Tel Aviv, previously played for Hapoel Tel Aviv earlier in his career. In the recent EuroLeague season, he averaged 7.1 points and 5.2 assists in 19.5 minutes per game. The upcoming move and loan arrangement aim to provide Blatt with new opportunities in competitive European basketball environments.
