11 People, Including 3 Minors, Bitten by Jackals Near the Sea of Galilee
Eleven people were bitten overnight by jackals near Duga Beach on the Sea of Galilee, including three minors. According to Northern Medical Center on Saturday morning, all of the victims were treated, received the required vaccinations, and were discharged, except for one female patient who arrived later from another beach.
Magen David Adom said the injured were evacuated to the hospital in mild condition. The incidents took place near the lakeside beach area, where the jackals had come into contact with people during the night.
Dr. Noa Shacham Hadari, head of the emergency department at Northern Medical Center, said anyone bitten, scratched, or closely exposed to a wild animal should seek immediate medical treatment and vaccination. She also urged the public to avoid contact with stray animals and wildlife, keep them away from homes and places where children are present, and ensure household pets are vaccinated by law. “Vigilance and prevention are the best tools we have to protect health,” she said.
