Unusual jackal attacks at the Sea of Galilee leave 11 mildly injured
An unusual series of jackal attacks at the Sea of Galilee left 11 people, including three minors, with minor injuries on Saturday morning. The victims were taken to Poriya Hospital in Tiberias after being attacked and bitten by a jackal.
Most of those hurt were among several people injured at Duga Beach. The North Medical Center, Poriya, said all of the patients were treated, received the required vaccinations, and were discharged after several hours.
One woman who arrived later from another beach still needs observation, the hospital said. Her condition was also described as mild.
Dr. Noa Shaham Hadari, head of the emergency department at North Medical Center, said anyone bitten, scratched, or closely exposed to a wild animal should seek medical care and vaccination immediately. She also urged the public to avoid contact with stray animals or wildlife, keep them away from homes and places where children stay, and ensure pets are vaccinated by law.
