WhatsApp Rolls Out New Storage Management Feature for Android Beta Users

WhatsApp has introduced a new storage management feature in its Android beta app designed to help users clear media files downloaded from channels without unsubscribing or deleting the channels themselves. This tool consolidates all images, videos, and other media files from channels into one place within the app's storage management screen, allowing users to see how much space these files occupy and selectively delete them as needed.

The feature targets users who follow multiple channels that regularly share media, which can accumulate over time and consume significant device storage even if the files are no longer needed. Deleting files through this tool only removes the copies stored on the device; users remain subscribed to the channels and can still access updates unless removed by channel administrators. Media files can be re-downloaded when viewing channel updates if necessary.

Currently, the feature is available to a limited number of WhatsApp Android beta users and will be gradually rolled out to more beta testers in upcoming updates. There is no announced timeline for a full public release to all users.
