OPPO Find X9 Ultra Launches as Premium Android Flagship with iPhone-Like Features at Higher Price
Chinese smartphone maker OPPO has introduced its latest flagship model, the Find X9 Ultra, priced at around 6,000 shekels (approximately $1,700). The device aims to compete with premium smartphones like the iPhone 17 Pro Max by offering high-end features, but at a higher price point compared to some competitors. OPPO continues its collaboration with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad, featuring a large circular camera module on the back that houses four lenses, including a 200-megapixel main sensor and two periscope telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x optical zoom capabilities. The front camera also boasts a 50-megapixel sensor. The phone’s design echoes the iPhone, with a flat 6.82-inch screen, a dedicated camera shortcut button reminiscent of Apple’s, and a robust build with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance ratings.
Under the hood, the Find X9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Elite processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, which can be partially converted into additional RAM. The device delivers smooth performance, excellent gaming capabilities, and a vibrant, bright display suitable for outdoor use. It includes a large 7,050mAh battery supporting 100W fast charging, though the included charger supports only 65W, charging the battery from 15% to 50% in about 30 minutes. The phone runs Android 16 with OPPO’s ColorOS 16 interface, which includes some pre-installed apps and features a small dynamic window around the selfie camera similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. However, the AI features and voice assistant tools have limited Hebrew support.
The camera system excels in daylight and low-light conditions, producing sharp, vivid photos with effective AI enhancements, though digital zoom beyond 10x results in noticeable quality loss. Despite its strengths, the Find X9 Ultra faces stiff competition from other flagship models like Samsung’s Fold 8 and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which are priced similarly or lower. This pricing challenge may limit its appeal despite the device’s advanced features and premium build quality.
