Gabi Kanikovski Leads Ferencvaros Past Satu Limkin in Israeli Derby
On July 30, three Israeli footballers playing abroad competed in European qualifiers, with Gabi Kanikovski and Satu Limkin facing off in a notable Israeli derby. Both started for their respective teams, Ferencvaros from Hungary and Twente from the Netherlands, in the Europa League qualifiers. Twente fought back late in the game, with goals from Wout Weghorst in the 82nd minute and Hasselink equalizing in the 86th minute. Limkin received a yellow card in the 61st minute and nearly scored in the 89th but missed.
Another Israeli player, Iham Shhada, appeared as a substitute in the Conference League qualifiers but his team, Velez Mostar from Bosnia, lost 3-0 to Dunajska Streda from Slovakia and was eliminated 4-0 on aggregate. This marked the conclusion of the European campaigns for the Israeli representatives that evening.
