American Refueling Planes Cause Major Delays at Ben Gurion Airport, Passengers Wait Hours for Luggage

Ben Gurion Airport is experiencing significant delays in baggage delivery, with passengers waiting several hours due to operational congestion caused by the presence of American refueling aircraft, known as "partner planes." This unusual operational pressure is occurring during the peak summer travel season, impacting flight schedules and airport throughput.

The Israel Airports Authority explained that the American tankers create a domino effect on the flight timetable, leading to heavy operational loads that slow down airport processes. Despite the frustration among travelers, the authority emphasized that their primary goal is to avoid flight cancellations and maintain normal airport operations.

The authority expressed sincere apologies to affected passengers, acknowledging the frustration and uncertainty caused by the delays. They also noted that all operational, security, service, and maintenance staff are working around the clock in full cooperation to minimize disruption.

These measures are being implemented under the guidance of the Transport Minister to ensure continuity of air traffic and reduce cancellations that could disrupt passenger plans.
