Beloved Rabbi Who Supported Broken Families Passes Away, Leaving Family in Financial Crisis

Rabbi Menachem Goldschmidt, a founding figure and pillar of the Beit Shemesh community, passed away at age 59 after a brief illness caused by pneumonia complications. For 28 years, Rabbi Goldschmidt was deeply involved in building both the physical and social fabric of the city, including establishing the central synagogue of the 'Perushim' community and supporting vulnerable individuals such as orphans, widows, and the disadvantaged by opening his home to them.

Known for his meticulous craftsmanship in producing tefillin cases, Rabbi Goldschmidt treated his work as a sacred mission, often sacrificing income to ensure perfection according to Jewish law. This dedication, combined with the financial burden of marrying off 11 children, left the family with significant debts. While he was alive, he bore these challenges quietly and bravely.

Following his death, the family now faces a dire financial situation, with mounting debts and monthly interest payments increasing by 7,000 shekels. His youngest son, who has yet to marry, is left without his father's blessing or financial support, while his widow faces the threat of asset seizures. The family is appealing to the community for urgent assistance to prevent further financial collapse and to support the widow and orphans left behind.
