Israeli Hostage Survivor Evitar David Shares Struggle with PTSD After Release

Evitar David, a 25-year-old Israeli who survived captivity by Hamas, opened up about his difficult recovery process in a personal social media post on Thursday. David described the ordeal of being kidnapped and held in a dark tunnel, focusing on surviving day by day until he could return home. Despite the trauma, he expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and prayers he received from strangers and loved ones upon his release, which reminded him of the good in the world.

However, David revealed that returning home did not end his battle, as he continues to face post-traumatic stress disorder and flashbacks. He explained that while physically safe and surrounded by loved ones, his mind often drifts back to the captivity experience. David emphasized that surviving captivity was one challenge, but true recovery is an ongoing fight.

He shared his hopes to fully heal, marry, and build a family in Israel. To support his long rehabilitation journey, David’s friends and family have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help him focus on recovery.
