Sharren Haskel Summoned for Testimony in Likud Voting Video Scandal

MK Sharren Haskel was summoned on Thursday to provide testimony at Lahav 433 police unit following her claim that members of the New Hope faction were instructed to record their votes during the election for State Comptroller and present the footage to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Haskel was called as a witness, not a suspect. This summons follows a directive from Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Attorney Amit Isman to investigate whether Likud members submitted false affidavits to the Supreme Court regarding the voting video documentation. Likud had denied instructing MKs to film their votes, asserting that those who did so acted voluntarily. In contrast, Haskel's supplementary affidavit stated that during the repeated voting round for the State Comptroller, New Hope MKs were required to film themselves voting and then show the footage to Netanyahu. This affidavit was part of a petition in which Haskel sought to split from the right-wing National camp after resigning as Deputy Foreign Minister. Her claims contradict previous affidavits submitted by Likud CEO David Sharan and several Likud MKs, who denied any directive to record votes. Due to these conflicting accounts, police decided to take Haskel's testimony at Lahav 433. If she confirms her affidavit statements, authorities may consider opening a criminal investigation on suspicion of submitting a false affidavit to the Supreme Court.
