Yair Lapid Threatens to Sue After Being Accused of 'Helping Nazis' on Israeli TV

Yair Lapid, Israel's opposition leader, responded sharply to accusations made against him on Channel 14's "The Patriots" panel. Itamar Fleishman, a panelist, claimed that Lapid "helps Nazis," prompting Lapid to post on social media platform X that he would sue the accusers. Lapid emphasized the personal impact of the insult, stating, "The Nazis murdered my grandfather and half my family, my father was in the ghetto, a bunch of toxic lunatics. I am going to sue you for everything you have."

The controversy arose after Lapid's interview with CNN, where he was asked how he would handle Jewish terrorism in the West Bank. Lapid said he would deploy 300 police officers and two Border Police battalions, referring to Jewish rioters as "terrorists." Fleishman defended his harsh characterization of certain antisemitic influencers in the U.S. as Nazis, accusing them of spreading harmful lies about Jews that incite violence. He claimed Lapid supports these individuals, hence his statement that Lapid "helps Nazis."

Fleishman also cited the experience of his daughter and her friends in Rhodes, who were afraid to take photos due to threats. He mentioned images circulating of Israeli soldiers with their faces and names displayed alongside phone numbers, encouraging people to report sightings of these soldiers. This context was used to justify his severe accusations against Lapid.
