Trump Threatens Strong Retaliation Against Iran After Missile Attacks on US Bases in Jordan

US President Donald Trump issued a direct threat to Iran from the White House following missile attacks on American forces stationed in Jordan. Speaking on Wednesday evening, Trump declared, "Now it's our turn to hit them hard," referring to the ballistic missile strikes launched overnight. He emphasized that Iran "knows it's coming" despite their requests for restraint. Trump confirmed that US defense systems intercepted all five missiles, which traveled at speeds of approximately 8,500 miles per hour (13,600 km/h), preventing any damage.

Earlier the same day, in a Fox News interview, Trump warned that the US would "beat them badly" and praised American troops for their rapid response to the missile threat. He also stated that recent US airstrikes in Iraq, conducted alongside Saudi Arabia against Iranian-backed militias, were coordinated with the Iraqi government. Trump described Iran's proxies as a "cancer on the world" and indicated that Washington is considering further actions against these groups.

Despite the escalation, Trump revealed that after 13 days of US bombing campaigns, Iranian representatives reached out to discuss issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program. He said the US would continue dialogue but warned that the recent missile attack would not go unanswered.

Meanwhile, in Jordan, public concern is rising over the kingdom becoming a battleground between Washington and Tehran. Hundreds of Jordanian public figures, lawyers, and political activists signed an open letter demanding the withdrawal of US forces from the country. The letter cited increased security, political, and economic risks due to the presence of American troops amid ongoing drone and missile attacks from Iran, warning that Jordan could be dragged into a regional conflict it is not party to.
