IDF Border Police Soldiers Killed in Deadly Road Accident; 75-Year-Old Woman Charged

A serious indictment was filed against 75-year-old Helin Sahyak from Molad for negligent homicide following a fatal traffic accident on Highway 90 that claimed the lives of two Border Police soldiers, Tomer Eliyahu Klipi and Gal Yosef. Sahyak is accused of reckless driving, failing to obey a stop sign, and causing death and property damage by negligence. According to the indictment, Sahyak entered an intersection against a stop sign and collided with the two soldiers riding motorcycles, resulting in their immediate deaths.

Tomer Klipi's father, Ilan Klipi, shared his grief in an interview, describing his son as an extraordinary person with many dreams left unfulfilled. Tomer had just been released from duty to celebrate his birthday on August 22 and had informed his mother he was on his way home shortly before the crash. Ilan criticized the prosecution for taking 11 months to file charges and rejected defense claims suggesting the soldiers intended to commit suicide, a notion dismissed by the presiding judge.

Ilan also highlighted Tomer's recent promotion to team commander and his plans to study law alongside his father, a dream cut short by the accident. Gal Yosef had married only three weeks before the tragedy, with Tomer serving as his best man. The incident has drawn significant police attention, with senior officers arriving at the scene immediately after the crash.
