Hadar Mukhtar Gains Strong Support to Shorten Eligibility Period in Likud Primaries

Hadar Mukhtar, a candidate in the Likud party primaries, has achieved a significant milestone ahead of the upcoming elections. A group of 120 senior Likud officials, including mayors, council heads, branch managers, and central committee members, formally petitioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz to shorten Mukhtar's eligibility period, known as the "pazam." They argued that Mukhtar would attract younger voters to the party.

The petition, accompanied by a signed legal affidavit, highlighted Mukhtar's dedication since her discharge from the Israel Defense Forces. It noted her exceptional commitment to grassroots work, including submitting over 1,000 new membership forms, extensive network activity supporting the 26th Knesset elections, and consistent presence at party events. The signatories emphasized that her efforts have directly strengthened Likud's appeal among young people nationwide, a demographic the party seeks to engage more deeply.

The petitioners stated that Likud has historically welcomed young, committed activists and expressed confidence that Mukhtar has proven herself. They believe allowing her full participation in party activities aligns with Likud's interests.

In a social media video, Mukhtar shared her feelings about the support, saying it was uplifting to receive recognition from within the party, especially since she often faces hostility from left-wing opponents. She described the appreciation from Likud as a "wow" moment and a uniquely positive feeling.

Mukhtar's campaign and the backing from prominent party figures mark a notable development in the Likud primaries as the party prepares for the 2026 elections.
