Tondo Smart Advances Israeli Defense Drone Detection Project Amid Rising UAV Threats

Israeli company Tondo Smart announced it has reached a major milestone in a defense project for the Ministry of Defense focused on drone detection and alert systems. The company completed the delivery, installation, and deployment of all required systems in the current phase, which are designed to identify, warn against, and protect from drone threats. This development comes amid increased investment in counter-drone technologies following extensive use of UAVs by Hamas, Hezbollah, and other groups for intelligence and attacks, especially since the outbreak of the "Iron Swords" war.

The project began after Tondo Smart signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defense in January 2025, following a successful pilot. The initial contract involved developing and implementing the system, and the company now reports completing a key step toward operational deployment. Tondo Smart intends to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and is working to secure funding and advance the project through 2027. However, the company cautions that continuation depends on Ministry decisions, budget approvals, and procedural completions.

Tondo Smart, previously focused mainly on civilian infrastructure and smart city technologies, is strategically expanding into the defense sector, which offers larger budgets, long-term contracts, and growing demand for AI-based advanced technologies, sensors, and real-time alert systems. The success of this project could open further opportunities within Israel’s defense establishment and international markets.
