US and Saudi Forces Conduct Joint Strikes on Pro-Iranian Militias in Iraq Following Iranian Missile Attacks

The US military, in coordination with Saudi forces, launched targeted strikes against pro-Iranian militia positions in Nineveh province, eastern Iraq. This operation came hours after Iran fired ballistic missiles at a US base in Jordan. Iraqi media reported that eight people were killed and four injured in the strikes. According to the US Central Command, the joint air attacks targeted terrorist sites, including weapons and logistics facilities, as a direct response to missile launches by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) against US forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.

The US statement highlighted that the strikes were carried out following over 30 drone attacks directed by the IRGC in the past 72 hours, all of which were unsuccessful. It further noted that between February and April 2026, more than 600 attacks were launched against American civilians and facilities by Iran-linked Iraqi militias. The US warned that the IRGC and its terrorist affiliates must cease these attacks to avoid further military retaliation.

This escalation underscores ongoing tensions in the Middle East involving Iran's regional proxies and US-Saudi efforts to counteract them. The situation remains volatile, with the US signaling readiness for additional military responses if attacks continue.
