Dutch Freedom Party Leader Geert Wilders Praises Israel and Warns of Rising Islamism and Antisemitism in Europe
Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), gave an exclusive interview to Israeli journalist Libi Alon, where he expressed strong support for Israel and its fight against terrorism. Wilders, known as the "Dutch Trump" and a controversial figure in Europe, warned about the growing influence of radical Islam and antisemitism across the continent. He criticized Europe’s failure to protect Jewish communities and linked the rise in antisemitism to increased immigration and Islamization.
Wilders praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling Israel a "beacon of light" amid what he described as an "Islamic darkness." He commended Netanyahu’s efforts against Islamic jihadism, stating that no European leader has matched his commitment over the past decade. Wilders also highlighted his personal connection to Israel, having lived there for several years and considering it a second home.
On the topic of Islam, Wilders argued that it is an ideology that does not seek integration but domination, which he sees as a threat to social cohesion in Europe. He emphasized his fight for freedom and security in his political career, which has been centered on opposing illegal immigration and preserving European identity.
Regarding Iran, Wilders warned that the threat extends beyond Israel to the entire Western world, including Europe, due to Iran’s missile capabilities and potential nuclear ambitions. He stressed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.
Wilders recently stepped back from running for prime minister to help form a coalition government in the Netherlands but hopes to lead the country fully in the near future and continue his campaign to reshape Europe’s future.
