Shin Bet Joins Investigation into Attacks on Israeli Media Buildings in Tel Aviv

The investigation into recent attacks on Israeli media outlets has escalated as the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has been brought in to assist. This decision follows a series of stone-throwing incidents targeting the buildings of Channel 12 News and Haaretz in Tel Aviv. The joint investigation will be conducted by Shin Bet and the Dan District Crime Fighting Unit in the Tel Aviv police district.

The latest incident occurred overnight when glass doors at the entrance to Channel 12's building in Tel Aviv were smashed. This marks the second such attack on the building within less than a month. Authorities are examining whether these events are connected and who is responsible.

Security footage from the previous night shows a suspect approaching the Channel 12 building with a covered face, throwing two bricks at the entrance doors before fleeing the scene. Channel 12 condemned the attacks, warning that such violence could lead to fatal consequences and called it a "true alarm."

Channel 12 also criticized the Israeli government and Communications Minister for inciting rhetoric against free media, which they say fuels such violent acts. They urged the Israeli police to act immediately to prevent further dangerous violence and emphasized their resolve not to be deterred despite ongoing incitement, legislation, and violence.
