UAE Seeks to Ease Tensions with Iran Amid Regional Uncertainty

The United Arab Emirates, previously one of the Gulf's most vocal opponents of the Iranian regime and an active participant in strikes against it, is reportedly shifting its stance to de-escalate tensions. According to reports from the Persian Gulf region, the UAE, like many other Gulf states, has grown skeptical about the likelihood of the Iranian regime's collapse, especially given the inconsistent U.S. policy under President Trump.

Senior UAE officials have concluded that the chances of overthrowing the Iranian government are slim. Additionally, there is increasing awareness that the Gulf states lack the means to effectively respond if Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz, a move that would also severely impact the UAE. Consequently, the UAE leadership has opted for a strategy of lowering tensions with Iran, though this does not amount to a full reconciliation.

The UAE prioritizes maintaining its status as a key international tourism and commercial hub over confrontation with Iran, recognizing that the Iranian regime is likely to endure.
