Defense Minister Katz Reveals US Planes Launch Attacks on Iran from Israel Amid Rising Tensions

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Katz disclosed on Tuesday that American aircraft and refueling planes are taking off from Israel to conduct strikes in Iran. Katz stated that while Iran fires at all targets in the region, it refrains from attacking Israel, aware that US planes operate from Israeli territory for these missions. He emphasized the current deterrence but warned that the situation could change rapidly, affirming Israel's readiness to respond with full force if attacked. Katz noted, "We have struck Iran twice and are prepared for a third strike."

This revelation came during a Channel 14 conference, where Katz also highlighted the clear warnings issued by both himself and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Israel's response to any Iranian aggression. Netanyahu arrived in Washington overnight for his seventh visit to the US since Donald Trump’s return to the White House in January 2023. The upcoming meeting between Netanyahu and Trump will be their eighth encounter, focusing primarily on Iran.

Despite the US currently pausing strikes on Iran and President Trump mentioning ongoing "good talks" with Tehran, Netanyahu and Trump share similar views on Iran’s threat. Netanyahu aims to improve communication and coordination with Trump during their one-on-one meeting, presenting updated intelligence on Iran’s efforts to conceal its nuclear and ballistic capabilities, including attempts to hide assets deep underground at Mount Makush to protect them from bunker-busting bombs.

Previous meetings between Netanyahu and Trump have led to significant military operations, such as the "Roar of the Lion" campaign in Iran earlier this year, although the operation’s failure was publicly attributed to Netanyahu and Mossad by Washington. Netanyahu’s message will stress the necessity of ultimately toppling the Iranian regime, which continues to pursue nuclear weapons and missile development despite diplomatic efforts.

Katz has yet to respond to requests for further comment on his statements. The evolving situation underscores the complex coordination between Israel and the US amid ongoing tensions with Iran.
